Keeping a Positive Mindset When Living With a Disability
Updated: Apr 12, 2021
A day in my life can be very monotonous, with a lot of waiting around for doctors appointments, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and other appointments.
Even though I struggle with an illness that limits many everyday activities, I do try to stay upbeat.
Not letting a debilitating illness keep you down.
Despite how challenging living with CMT can be, it's important to stay positive, even when things are at their worst. When I get out of the house, the first thing I do is practice walking out the door by myself. Whether I make it to my destination or not is irrelevant; what matters is that I practiced every little step until it becomes easy.
When your muscles don't work as they should, it's easy to see why so many people get depressed and feel sorry for themselves. But it's these very individuals who need to learn how to stay positive and push through their obstacles.
Steps to Staying Positive
1. Don't worry about your limits. 2. Make the most of your abilities. 3. Reach for the stars. 4. Find the best in others. 5. Be nice always, and you'll find it comes back to you.
Being positive and keeping a positive outlook is the best attitude a person can have to help conquer life's road blocks. No matter what life throws at you, your mindset and attitude will get you through it. Those who have a positive outlook tend to stay more fit, healthy, vibrant and satisfied in their work and personal life. It is easy to let negativity become overwhelming, but those who are positive have mastered how to set goals, achieve them and celebrate their achievements.
